Challenge
Organizing chaos into order
Tommy Skul is a methodical outside sales rep with a large territory covering northern Colorado. Running his territory meant long hours.
"A typical day, I leave my house at 7:00 in the morning and start visiting jobsites and office locations."
But his day wouldn't end when he got home.
"I would come home at night and have all of my daily notes written down and then I would input those notes into the CRM. I would plan my next day and the stops that I wanted to hit. It took me about three to four hours."
His team's existing sales tool didn't help efficiency. It was not built for outside sales, nor did it enable route planning. "The CRM that the company had provided for us, I was having a really tough time not utilizing the star technique. And what I mean by that is you start one way, go across town, and back over." Arvada Rent-Alls needed a solution that would save time for its reps and create more opportunities to sell. That's when they connected with RepMove.
Solution
One app overcomes every challenge
Arvada Rent-Alls set Tommy up with RepMove to test before launching the tool for its whole team. RepMove helped Tommy revamp his entire process.
"RepMove took my organized chaos and it simplified every aspect of my day and what I wanted to accomplish in my phone."
Tommy uses RepMove for virtually every aspect of sales. It starts with route planning. His prior process took hours. "I went to MapQuest and I would individually put in the addresses and then click the route optimization, and by the time I was done doing that, it took me about three to four hours."
Now, planning routes for the entire week takes only minutes. "It's just a matter of drawing the area, getting my stops, optimizing it, sending it, and then I'm done." It takes "5 minutes, 10 minutes" to plan his routes.
RepMove also made prospecting far easier. "I would contact the cities and ask ask for open permit requests. That usually took a couple weeks to get that back."
RepMove connects with other tools to make prospecting a simple and quick affair. "With ConstructConnect, we're able to select all the sites and then sync them into RepMove. Before, I was going in and building them once I would get to the site."
What does he do with that extra time?
"Today, I walked away with five leads because I walked the entire job site." One of those new leads happened to have an office along his current route. "So I just add them right there and I put them in as an additional stop."
Tommy also uses RepMove to manage his customer touches. Beyond sales visits, Tommy organizes follow-up workflows that keep customers engaged before and after sales.
"Where before I was kind of throwing darts at a dart board and not really having a good system to follow, through RepMove, I'm scheduling two or three additional touches at that point. Before, I was plugging into a Google Calendar event. Now, I just click that follow-up button, I set the date and time, and then it has all my notes."
Results
Improvements across the board
RepMove has helped Tommy on virtually all his key metrics.
Tommy has doubled, if not tripled, his daily customer visits. "If I was 10 to 15 in a day, that was good."
Now? "Between 25 and 30 a day."
He has also significantly grown his book of business.
"You want 65% of your customers actively renting, which means you want to have about 120 active customers. So my immediate goal was I want to get to 100 open accounts as quick as I can. Before RepMove came along, I had 28 accounts." Within 6 months, Tommy nearly quadrupled his book. "I signed my one hundred and first account up."
What often took him until 10:00 PM to finish now only takes him a few minutes. "It took me about three to four hours to wrap up my current day and plan for my next day. What used to take me 10 hours now takes me a total of 10 to 15 minutes."
RepMove has also shortened his sales cycles considerably.
"What RepMove did over what I was doing is it helped me shrink that time frame several months, maybe three quarters (8 months) down to two months."
Ultimately, RepMove provided Tommy with something unexpected. "Peace of mind." After following his diligent daily process, he knows he's done everything he can to succeed.
"I don't have to worry about what I need to do next because it's all scheduled by the time I click that last stop. I just want that peace of mind that I went out, I did a great job."
